This is the
third service in a series of five.

This series of sermons comes from
Chichester Baptist Church and is from September and October this year.
The series title is Lessons in
the Life of Moses. Over the next
five weeks we will look at key events in his life under the headings:
Encounter, Enlist, Everyone, Equip and Empower.
Of course, with hindsight, we can
see Moses as a giant of faith, but in his own lifetime he felt the same as us –
inadequate and unprepared. So what can
we learn?
In this series I have tried to use
the same hymns that were used in Chichester before and after the message. This week the opening song reminds us that
God is worthy of all our praise in every circumstance of life.

This message
is the first in our new series and is from the 21st of September.
If you have a Bible or Bible app to
hand, please find Exodus chapter 17 before you start the video.
This week the minister Andy Morgan brings the
message. The video starts with Mikey
reading the passage for today.
Click the filmstrip icon below to start watching the YouTube video. It
should start automatically about 48 minutes into the complete service.
I suggest that you stop the video after
Andy has finished his closing prayer. We will watch a video of the song that they
then sang after our own prayers..

You can adjust the YouTube settings
using the controls at the bottom right of the screen. The gear wheel on the left adjusts the
quality (480 may be enough) and the box frame on the right shows the video full
screen.
I realise that I use these words every week to guide your
thoughts and I still think they are a helpful summary.
As you watched the message
today was there a moment when you sensed the Holy Spirit speaking directly to you? Then tell Jesus about it. Or maybe you simply had a ‘lightbulb’ moment
which you would like to thank God for.
Spend a few moments to thank
God for all his goodness to you in the last week.
Spend a few minutes in confession.
Take a few minutes to pray
for others who you feel burdened
for. If you have received the Church email,
it will give you some suggestions.
Now spend a few moments praying for the fellowship of the
church to which we belong and its witness
to friends, family, neighbours, the young and the old, and to the wider world.
This is the same song that they
sang after the sermon and reminds us that life’s most important battle belongs
to God and our strength depends on Jesus’ victory on the cross.

Heavenly Father,
We come to You today inspired by the lessons of the Bible passage today.
We thank You that You are our banner, Jehovah Nissi, the one who
fights our battles for us.
We acknowledge, like Moses, that
victory does not come from our own strength, but from our reliance on You
through prayer. Forgive us for the times we have tried to fight our spiritual
battles in our own power or forgotten to call on You in times of crisis.
Lord, we recognize our human
frailty and weariness, just as Moses' hands grew heavy. We thank You for the
body of Christ and the importance of community. Help us to be Aarons and Hurs
for one another, providing support and encouragement when our fellow believers
grow weary. Make us a community that lifts each other up in prayer and
practical help, bearing one another's burdens and so fulfilling Your law.
Help us to persist in prayer, to
keep our hands and hearts lifted up to You, knowing that when we do, Your power
is at work and we will prevail against the challenges we face.
In the coming week help us to
remember Your faithfulness and to build altars of remembrance, praising You for
the victories You have won in our lives. Keep us vigilant in our faith,
trusting that You are always with us and that the ultimate victory is Yours
through Jesus Christ, our Champion.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we
pray,
Amen.
