Ezekiel

This is the first service in this series.

The Glory God Displays

Welcome and Introduction

Like our previous series, these sermons come from Chichester Baptist Church.  They are right up to date.

Although Ezekiel lived six hundred years before Christ, there are a lot of parallels between the situation he faced then and our own day.  This six week series will give us much to think about as we try to make sense of “where is God in all the events around the world that fill our television news and our social media?”

Song:  Nothing Compares To The Promise I Have In You

In this series I have tried to use the same hymns that were used in Chichester before and after the message.  So this song is their choice for our opening song.

Bible Passage and the Message:  The Glory God Displays

This message is from January this year.

The video contains a Bible reading from Ezekiel chapter 1, starting at verse 1.  If you have a Bible or Bible app to hand, please find this passage when you start the video.

This week Ian Crossley brings the message.

Click the filmstrip icon below to start watching the YouTube video.  It should start automatically at about 45 minutes into the complete service.

I suggest that you stop the video when Ian hands over to the band for their final song.  We will watch a video of the same song.

Click here to watch the video.

You can adjust the YouTube settings using the controls at the bottom right of the screen.  The gear wheel on the left adjusts the quality (480 may be enough) and the box frame on the right shows the video full screen.

Song:  At Your Feet We Fall

These are the words that Ian quoted at the end of his sermon.  He said that they are a fitting response to Ezekiel’s vision.

Our Own Prayers

As you watched the message today was there a moment when you sensed the Holy Spirit speaking directly to you?  Then tell Jesus about it.  Or maybe you simply had a ‘lightbulb’ moment which you would like to thank God for.

Spend a few moments to thank God for all his goodness to you in the last week.

Spend a few minutes in confession.

Take a few minutes to pray for others who you feel burdened for.  If you have received the Church Email, it will give you some suggestions.

Now spend a few moments praying for the fellowship of the church to which we belong and its witness to friends, family, neighbours, the young and the old, and to the wider world.

Please pray for our “Film Nights at ABC” which started last Sunday evening.  Over the coming couple of months we will show every episode from Series One of “The Chosen”.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will prompt many people to come and watch.  The portrayal of Jesus is so powerful that it is almost impossible not to be affected.

A Closing Prayer

Almighty God,
as we conclude this time together,
we acknowledge your infinite nature,
and your transcendence beyond all human understanding.

You are the Creator of all that is, and we humbly bow before your majesty.

May we carry with us the awareness of your boundless power and love,
and may our lives reflect your glory in all that we do.

Amen.
