This is the
fourth service in a series of five.

This series of sermons comes from
Chichester Baptist Church and is from September and October this year.
The series title is Lessons in
the Life of Moses. Over a period of
five weeks we will look at key events in his life under the headings:
Encounter, Enlist, Everyone, Equip and Empower.
Of course, with hindsight, we can
see Moses as a giant of faith, but in his own lifetime he felt the same as us –
inadequate and unprepared. So what can
we learn?
In this series I have tried to use
the same hymns that were used in Chichester before and after the message. This week the opening song is a way of
telling God that we look to Him to equip us to face life’s challenges.

This message
is the fourth in our new series and is from the 28th of September.
If you have a Bible or Bible app to
hand, please find Numbers chapter 13 before you start the video.
This week the minister Andy Morgan brings the
message.
Click the filmstrip icon below to start watching the YouTube video. It
should start automatically about 45 minutes into the complete service.
I suggest that you stop the video after
Andy has finished his closing prayer. We will watch a video of the song that they
then sang after our own prayers..

You can adjust the YouTube settings
using the controls at the bottom right of the screen. The gear wheel on the left adjusts the
quality (480 may be enough) and the box frame on the right shows the video full
screen.
I realise that I use these words every week to guide your
thoughts and I still think they are a helpful summary.
As you watched the message
today was there a moment when you sensed the Holy Spirit speaking directly to you? Then tell Jesus about it. Or maybe you simply had a ‘lightbulb’ moment
which you would like to thank God for.
Spend a few moments to thank
God for all his goodness to you in the last week.
Spend a few minutes in confession.
Take a few minutes to pray
for others who you feel burdened
for. If you have received the Church email,
it will give you some suggestions.
Now spend a few moments praying for the fellowship of the
church to which we belong and its witness
to friends, family, neighbours, the young and the old, and to the wider world.
This is the same song that they
sang after the sermon. The words take up
the them that we are trusting God to build His Kingdom here – where we live.

Heavenly Father,
“Lord, we thank You for sending us out to explore the world and its
opportunities, just as You sent the spies into Canaan. You have promised to be
with us on our journey, and we trust in Your presence.”
We confess that sometimes we feel
like grasshoppers, small and insignificant in the face of our challenges. We
are tempted to spread fear and doubt instead of hope and courage, like the ten
spies.
Give us the faith of Caleb, who
looked at the obstacles but trusted in Your power to overcome them. Help us to
believe Your Word is true, even when our senses tell us otherwise.
Grant us discernment to see Your
plan, even when it is not immediately clear. Guide our steps, and help us to
make decisions that are pleasing to You.
Fill us with boldness to move
forward in faith and with a heart of obedience, not of unbelief. Equip us with
everything good so we may do Your will and live fruitful lives
We pray that You would strengthen
our faith and help us to live in the hope and promise of our true promised
land. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
