Audlem Baptist Church Online Service for the
20th April 2025

Easter Sunday

Welcome and Introduction

Today, for Easter Sunday, the in-person and online services are the same.

Let us all join in by proclaiming:  Christ is risen!  He is risen indeed!

Our first hymn is ‘At Your Feet We Fall, Mighty Risen Lord’

This is a great hymn of real worship.  The mighty King has risen and let us metaphorically and in our hearts bow before him and honour him today.

Your own prayer of worship.

Follow that hymn, by praying your own worship prayer, even using one of the verses and the chorus.

Hymn:  Up From the Grave He Arose

I always choose this hymn when I take an Easter service.  I love the way that the verses emphasise the sadness of Christ’s crucifixion and burial and then in the chorus we burst into joyful song at his resurrection.

Bible Reading from Psalm chapter 118 verses 1 to 2 and 14 to 24

1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures for ever.
2 Let Israel say:
    ‘His love endures for ever.’

14 The Lord is my strength and my defence;
    he has become my salvation.
15 Shouts of joy and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:
   ‘The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!
16     The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!’
17 I will not die but live,
    and will proclaim what the Lord has done.
18 The Lord has chastened me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.
19 Open for me the gates of the righteous;
    I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord
    through which the righteous may enter.
21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
    you have become my salvation.
22 The stone the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;
23 the Lord has done this,
    and it is marvellous in our eyes.
24 The Lord has done it this very day;
    let us rejoice today and be glad.

The Message:  Before and After

No video to watch this week, but Click here to join in with the message that we are using ‘live’ at ABC. When you reach the end, click your browser ‘Back’ button.

Hymn:  See What a Morning

I think this is the best hymn to sing as we bring together all our thoughts this Easter Day.  This hymn was written by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty and is performed here by Stuart with a video by Chet Valley.

Our Own Prayers

Spend a few moments to thank God for all his goodness to you in the last week.

Spend a few minutes in confession.

Take a few minutes to pray for others who you feel burdened for.  If you have received the Church Email, it will give you some suggestions.

Now spend a few moments praying for the fellowship of the church to which we belong and its witness to friends, family, neighbours, the young and the old, and to the wider world.

A Closing Prayer

Lord,
We thank you for the joy and hope that Easter brings.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us and empower us to live as your children.

Bless our families, our church, and our community.

May the message of the resurrection continue to be proclaimed and received, bringing hope and healing to all who hear,

Amen.
