Audlem Baptist Church Online Service for the
30th March 2025

Stay Strong and Carry On

This is the second service in this series.

You Are Going To Be Okay

Welcome and Introduction

This week we continue with our series for Lent and Easter.  The messages all come from Twin Lakes Church in California.  They formed their Lent series in 2024.  These are also the same sermons that we are using for the in-person services that I am leading on several Sundays this year.

Today’s service is the one that was our own service on the sixteenth of March.

Optional PDF Message Notes

This is completely optional.

Click here to open the message notes in a new tab.  Select that tab to either view or print the notes on your home printer.  If you choose to print the notes, you will gradually build up a complete set that will remind you of the things you have learnt during the series.

If you want to do this, print the notes now, before we start.

Hymn:  The King of Love My Shepherd Is

This is the song that I chose for our in-person service as the hymn before the message.  It is sung a little slowly, so reflect on the words and the pictures as you watch and sing along.

Bible Reading from Isaiah chapter 44 verses 1-5

This series often has an Old Testament Bible reading, because that was the scripture that the disciples and Jesus knew.

If you have time and would like to read this, then Click here and it will be displayed in this tab.

The Message:  You are going to be okay

Click here to watch the video.

You can alter the Vimeo settings using the controls at the bottom right of the screen.  The gear wheel on the left adjusts the quality (480 may be enough) and the four arrows on the right shows the video full screen.   Vimeo will display Subtitles by toggling the control indicated by the CC box and choosing ‘English’ as the language.

Song:  Because He Lives I Can Face Tomorrow

This is the hymn that I chose to follow the message.  It is one that we used to sing quite frequently in church, but seems to have ‘gone out of fashion’.  I thought it fitted beautifully with the message.

Our Own Prayers

As you watched the message today was there a moment when you sensed the Holy Spirit speaking directly to you?  Then tell Jesus about it.  Or maybe you simply had a ‘lightbulb’ moment which you would like to thank God for.

Spend a few moments to thank God for all his goodness to you in the last week.

Spend a few minutes in confession.

Take a few minutes to pray for others who you feel burdened for.  If you have received the Church Email, it will give you some suggestions.

Now spend a few moments praying for the fellowship of the church to which we belong and its witness to friends, family, neighbours, the young and the old, and to the wider world.

Please pray for our “Film Nights at ABC” which started three weeks ago.  During February and March we will show every episode from Series One of “The Chosen”.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will prompt many people to come and watch.  The portrayal of Jesus is so powerful that it is almost impossible not to be affected.

A Closing Prayer

Loving God,

As we reflect on the words of Jesus in our passage, we are reminded of your unwavering love and the promise of your peace.

Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, and for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will guide and comfort us.

We ask for the grace to trust in your promises, even when our hearts are troubled, and to seek your peace in all circumstances.

May we be people of faith, love, and unity, reflecting your light in this world.

Help us to live in a way that honours your name and brings glory to you.

May we be instruments of your love and peace, just as Jesus was.

We pray all this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour

Amen.
